The Wisconsin Quality Coalition (WiQC) is excited to announce expanded focus areas and new learning opportunities. The WiQC is a statewide learning and action network sponsored by MetaStar that provides its members with the opportunity to share and collaborate with other organizations that are focusing on preventing and reducing health care-acquired conditions and improving quality. There is no fee for being a WiQC member. This initiative will continue through July 2014.
The WiQC will emphasize the following topics:
- Antipsychotic use
- Dementia care
- Urinary tract and other infections
- Falls
- Staff turnover
- Consistent/permanent assignment
- Transitions of care
Plus, we will continue with our efforts to reduce pressure ulcers and physical restraint use. You will be asked to prioritize improvement areas by analyzing quality measure data at your organization. Your team will then use the model for improvement to create and action plan to reach quality goals.
As a member, you will receive a binder of resources and tools to assist in improvement efforts, with an emphasis on the prevention of falls, physical restraints, pressure ulcers, and avoidable re-admissions. In addition, we will offer toolkits on new topic areas and direction on connecting and best utilizing existing resources. You will also receive an e-newsletter and will have the opportunity for technical assistance and networking. We seek to help coordinate rather than compete with other initiatives in which you may already be involved.
If you are already a member of WiQC, you will continue to be enrolled unless you let us know you are no longer interested.
We anticipate that materials and information will be shared among each organization’s interdisciplinary teams to maximize impact. Please contact us if you have questions or need additional information.
