About passwords

MetaStar’s password policy requires that passwords be changed at least every 60 days. Our system will automatically generate a daily email to you once your password is within seven days of expiring.

Note that your account actually has two passwords. One is on premises (in the building) and the other is Office 365 (in the cloud). When one is changed, the other will automatically synchronize, but there could be a delay of several minutes. After a password change has synchronized, Outlook and Teams will prompt you for the new password. Make sure to check the “remember” box so you are not prompted the next time you use the application.

Changing your password

There are several ways you may change your password depending on your situation.

If you are in the building:

• Login to your computer
  • If your password has already expired, you will be prompted to change it
• If your password has not yet expired, do the following to bring up the password change window
  • Press Ctrl-Alt-Del
  • Click the “Change password” button

If you are not in the building, but have VPN access (and your password has not yet expired)

• Connect to the VPN
• Bring up the password change window
  • Press Ctrl-Alt-Del
  • Click the “Change password” button
